Most Danes love soft squeaky plush toys. Just about any will do but just be sure that they do not have eyes, arms, etc. that can easily be pulled off and swallowed!  Also watch when dogs begin to tear out the insides.

AVOID

Greenie products.  It is our opinion that hearing about the warnings and about too many complaints about this product causing blockages and in some reported cases, deaths, makes them too risky to take a chance with.

Any Rawhide treats - any product made from animal hide such as pig ears, pig snouts, bull tails, etc.  Please see our Rawhide warning handout for details about why.

 Nylabone or Gumibone (can not be detected on Xray if dog swallows them)

Cooked or smoked chew bones, or smoked natural bones or bone treats.

No cooked steak bones!

Basically, if treats are available in a grocery store, avoid them.

Tennis balls not only contain a lethal gas, but are a perfect size for your Dane to swallow!
