JAKE
Jake
was returned to his
breeder, at 7 months. His first owners, made a mistake
and intelligently realised that they were not able to care for a
rambunctious giant breed. Jake was lucky. His breeder took him there
and then, and spent the next 3 months rehabilitating him back to being a
happy boy, and most carefully screening anyone who showed interest -
frankly, she didnt want him to leave. If you knew Jake, you'd know
why........
He
had some issues, mostly from lack of consistent training, and just being
Jake ! He has a heart of a lion, except where small furry animals
are concerned...and then the timid side of him rises rampant.
His sister
Saffy (in his new forever
home) would find the smallest baby rabbits, and gently carry them in her
mouth, alive, into our home, and place them at Jakes feet.....just to
watch him run for cover....You have no idea how much home renovation we
have had to make in repairs....... Gone are the table ornaments, gone are
the smooth surfaces on walls where items of large furniture and large dogs
have come into contact. GONE are the rabbits, we had to make sure our yard
was not a home, even for Saffy's amusement !
Jake
is a founder member of the
Arizona Great Dane Drill Team, and has been in
many parades, events, and educational sorties. Whether he is decked out in
Easter parade frills, or Xmas lights....hes right there, showing all how a
well behaved, socialized, happy dog can be. At the last Xmas parade, there
were 250,000 people lining the streets, the noise was unbelievable, but I
know that he showed more concern over getting his share of the chicken
when we got home:)
Jake completed his beginners obedience,
intermediate, advanced training all at the top of his class - here's what
our trainer had to say..
I have been working with
Janie and her dogs since she obtained them as puppies.
She has trained them each through many of my obedience classes to advanced
levels, as well as working with me on many private occasions. I have also
worked with each dog myself on individual basis. Both dogs are well
trained and have obtained their CGC (Good Citizenship Certificates). Both
have also competed at AKC (American Kennel Club) Trials. Both are active
members of the Arizona Great Dane Performance Drill Team, giving obedience
displays, educational visits, and promotional events. Beyond all this they
are both good dogs.

Del-Orado Training
Jake
loves to perform, he trains in agility, where we discovered an incredible
talent for jumping He can easily clear 6ft high.
note,
Giant breeds should NOT train for any kind of jumping until their growth
plates have fully matured - at around 18 months old.
He
has shown an awesome talent in the drill team, and can be handled by ANY
of the team members, he recently performed solo in a parade in Nth
California, where he has now moved to, with 5 year old handler Jade
Prunella. They won 2nd place out of 88 entries. He lives to strut his
stuff.
Jake has
RESCUED us.
