Ebony came to rescue in horrible shape, emaciated and full of parasites, including heartworms.

I had to teach her how to eat again, she'd become so used to filling up on water to feel "full".   Ebony has walked twice in Rescue Parades. The first time was weeks after she'd come into rescue when she was still in an emaciated state, we were trying to show the world what condition these kids come to us in, to make a point as to what we deal with each day.

Most of the dogs that walk in the rescue parades are in the bloom of health and all everyone hears is their sad stories. We felt a visual impact was needed. It worked. As we walked  I could see tears in almost everyone's eyes.

People came up to us afterwards in tears asking how they could help. Sometimes you have to show people, not just tell them. Her  2nd appearance was in her full health so that everyone who saw her the 1st time could have closure.

She danced thru her part! She was looking and feeling good and she wanted everyone to know! Of course, by this time, I had fallen completely for her and had adopted her! 

Ebony will start her basic obedience class this fall, with thoughts of  competitive obedience dancing in our heads!
