SHADOW

A SPECIAL NEEDS PUPPY.  Shadow is 7-1/2 months old, black and very sick with demodectic mange.  He is in very critical condition and is undergoing close veterinary care and treatments.  He has been improving slowly day by day and will continue to require medications for some period until he is out of the woods and back on the road to wellness.  He is just a baby and is missing his puppyhood.  Please consider sending donations in his name to help us with his huge vet bills.

 

This deserving puppy is very sweet and unassuming.  He seems to realize that he has been rescued and acts very grateful.  At first he didn't want to be touched because of the pain but slowly he is asking to be petted and wants to snuggle.  The snuggling is a bit on the sticky side right now but he is getting his snuggles by a very wonderful foster home who knows he needs to be loved.  He is responding to heartfelt special care, respect, and, very appreciated couch time!  He is great with other dogs, cats and loves people.   At present, he has a lot of dead hair, a growth under his jaw which is an accumulation of deep infections that his body is dealing with, and his eyes were nearly swollen shut.  His vet nearly cried when he walked into the exam room to meet him.  We are all dedicated to giving this baby a chance.

**Update on little Shadow - 10 days later**

He is improving with his medical care.  You can see that his sores are drying up and he is beginning to look like the puppy that he is underneath.
His eyes are not as swollen and he is now able to walk and even runs a little.  He is also now allowing us to touch him which he wouldn't before because of the pain, and he is now asking for hugs and pets!!  A huge difference from day one.
He is playing with his foster family's resident dogs and showing lots of signs that he feels much better already.  He is 'talking' to his foster mom, relating nicely to the resident cats, and is going to the door to ask to go out to potty.  He is getting crate trained and in general is doing real well learning about just all kinds of 'stuff'!  According to his foster mom and dad, he is an enchanting love puppy.  Still a ways to go to get well, he looks like he is on his way!

As you can see, he is improving dramatically into a very handsome boy
Shadow is no longer on any medication, he is playful and a very affectionate puppy who will be a wonderful healthy addition to a permanent home
