This is JAKE!
He is 8 months old, born in
March 2007. His home could not afford his vet visits and
medical needs so asked if we could take care of him. His
coat was in bad shape and was getting worse with each vet
visit, causing much financial difficulties for his owner.
Our vet found a different diagnosis and he is now on the
mend. He is recovering from demodectic mange (not
contagious), and is now on the correct medication for it.
He also is being treated for 'happy tail' caused by being in
a crate constantly. His attitude is wonderful and seems
surprised at almost everything he encounters. He is kind of
a laid-back boy for a puppy, but this is not to say he can't
get going! :-) He loves toys and likes to carry them
around in his mouth. He will throw his toys in the air and
entertain himself, and he will fetch a ball and bring it
back a hundred times. He is good with other dogs and has
met two cats in different homes with no fear or aggression.
Supervision is always advised tho. :-) Again, he was
bemused and in wonder about what they might BE. He is very
cute to watch. He sits proudly and walks nicely on leash.
He will watch you while leash walking, like he is checking
your face to see that you are with him and all is ok. This
could make a nice characteristic for Obedience dog
training. He meets people very well and with a wag. He
is crate trained and goes into his crate willingly, sleeping
all night quietly. He's just a nice kid that is happy to
learn new stuff every day. He'll make a perfect companion
dog for someone ready and able to take on the continuing
education of a BIG Dane baby.
