BoDerek
BoDerek update from foster home 5-10-04
BoDerek is a very affectionate and
loving girl. She bonds instantly and appreciates hugs and lots of
attention. We discovered that she is not good with the resident cat
and therefore will be recommended to go to a home with no cats,
small pets, or small children. She is also a little mouthy out of
insecurity. She is building her confidence everyday but is still a
little shy and hesitant at first.
She is a great dog that is a beautiful
girl that is blossoming each day and looking for a patient, quiet,
loving home that will be understanding of how hard she wants to
please. That lucky home will be rewarded with a lovely, loyal and
very special companion.
BoDerek is a very pretty and nicely marked harlequin female with stunning blue eyes. She is almost 18 months old and weighs around 100 pounds. She has lived her young life with her brother, DeAngelo, from birth to now, and has lived on a small horse breeding farm. She was raised inside as a family member until her owner recently got very ill and had to keep her and her brother totally outside. Her owner has now passed away and rescue was called to help both Danes find a new home
She was loved and not abused, and reportedly has had some obedience training along with her brother. She is shy with strangers at first but does warm up. And it has been discovered that she loves biscuits, and IS bribable. :-) She hides behind her brother who is the outgoing nosey one. Both were very upset to be suddenly kept outside and were further upset when they were moved from the 'farm'. She is a very sweet girl who is a little nervous because of the confusion surrounding losing her home and owner. She does bond like glue as soon as she trusts you. She is being kenneled with her brother until a foster home can be found that can handle one or both. BoDerek apparently has not had much socialization off the 'farm' and will benefit from a family that wants to teach her how nice the world can be and will want to include her in everything. She should make a lovely addition to a patient and understanding home that will receive her loyalty and love back a thousand fold.
BoDerek has blossomed into a precious teenaged Dane girl. She is learning all kinds of worldly things she didn't know back on the 'farm'. :-) She has been loving the dog parks, living with new dogs, big and small, and has been found to be very easy to love by everyone that meets her. She wants to please and she is very responsive when spoken to about anything. She is wonderful to walk with and has very nice house manners. She is certainly a beauty to look at and causes folks to approach her foster family to find out more about her. She has been through basic training at Man's Best Friend while in her first home. She still remains a little insecure about herself but is changing in front of everyone's eyes. Though she loves the resident male Dane and plays well with him, she is not good with her foster home's resident cat and wants to chase the kitty like he was a squirrel. We recommend a home with no cats for this reason. BoDerek is a big sweet older puppy who is filled with love. She is hoping for a home that will love her enthusiasm and appreciate her learning curve and sensitivities, and continue to help her build her confidence.
